Thanks for all the Newbie Tips everyone. I wasn't trying to complain and didn't take anything personally. I was able to take notice to the sense of community at Pine Grove, one of the things I enjoy here on the forums. I remember chatting with SlvrSrfr and couple others and enjoyed that. I'm willing to give it another try and break out of my shell a bit and perhaps overcome my Social Anxiety disorder a bit too. Wishing you all well.
Long days and pleasant night friends.
I know I have some social anxiety - comes and goes. My eyesight is really poor, and I chatted with one guy, Jay S., around the campfire for quite a while on Friday night. I never really saw his face well enough to recognize him.
In the morning, I walked up to Jay S. and introduced myself. He looked at me like I was crazy. "Don't you remember we met last night and talked?" he said. Well, yeah, I remember it. I just didn't know what you looked like!
It made me feel pretty foolish and self-conscious. I didn't introduce myself to anyone else that weekend for fear I'd already met them but couldn't see their faces. I didn't want anyone else to give me a look like Jay S. did!
Sounds silly I know.
Bump for some noobs trying to find this.

Suggestion for workshop:
I don't know about the rest of you, but I have always wanted to learn how to start a fire with some of the alternate means. I have (successfully) used a magnesium strip starter...but none of the other methods.
I can bring my magnesium strip for folks to play with...but would love to experiment with: rechargeable lithium battery (the stab and burn alternative); 9 volt battery with steel wool; fire bow; iron/steel knife and flint; etc.
Anyone else interested in developing their survival skills?
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Hang!
Great idea! Would love to see this happen. I suggest 1 pm at the pavilion, but any time you want to do it works!
Also, we needs a person or two to sign up to bring burgers and hot dogs, buns. See Potluck sign-up sheet. I'll be doing a pre-hike which would make it difficult for me to do. So any help would be greatly appreciated and you will be reimbursed by the ticket donations. You'll just need a cooler big enough to hold all the burgers and ice.
Formula for estimating burgers and buns is 1 for each person. So much other food we've found out that this is a good way to estimate. So if 50 people are on sign-up sheet. Then we will need 50 burgers and buns.
Formula for estimating hot dogs and buns is same. 1 per person coming.
Just save your receipt and we will make sure you are paid back in full!
