Junior sized bag an option?

I'm looking into a sleeping bag as a TQ. I know about squishing my insulation and I'm fine with a bag that has no insulation on the bottom, I just roll around too much and need to be zipped in.

So here's my idea. I'm only 5'2" so technically I could get a junior sized bag. Is there a benefit in price without sacrificing quality? I'm looking for a 0* down filled bag, preferably 800 fill. Does a junior bag like that even exist?

Most junior bags are synthetic and not many go down that low... there are definitely female-specific bags, though, that would probably work. There might be a perfect one out there, but there are definitely fewer choices for shorter folks, especially in high-end bags (nice down fill, low temp ratings, etc.).

If it were me, though, I'd try and get something custom made. HammockGear and many of the other cottage vendors do custom gear. You could get a short version of a top quilt that would be small, light, fit you perfectly and would probably be a bit cheaper than other top quilts (due to needing less fabric and down).

I was thinking junior to save money. Wouldn't custom work be more expensive? Nighthauk is thinking if getting me a short TQ and they sewing a back with snaps. Any thoughts?

You could probably get Underground Quilts, Hammock Gear, or another of the quilt vendors to make you a short, over-sized in width with snaps for a lot less than Western. The problem is with down compression on the bottom.
Another thought is to go with the Big Agnes bag.
I've used my 20* Underground TQ with a pad comfortably into the 30's. The neck collar on those works great for keeping it snug.

My girl friend likes her Roxy Ann from BA she got the petite size at 5'4" it fits her well. Its 650 FP and she still uses her insulated air core in it in her bridge hammock. I'm sure they have a higher fill power option.

It's pretty hard to flop out of a top quilt with a foot box & the top closure cinched up, but the plain sheet at the bottom sounds like a good idea. A few snaps along one side for easy in/out and you're in biz.

Has me thinking about adding that to my Flight Jacket quilt since I do use it some for a sleeping bag and that would alleviate the problem of a bottom sheet.
Snaps on both sides would make it removable. Maybe a hood would be nice. Have to check my scrap pile...
