Just be sure you are tying a square bow---not a granny bow. If you don't know the difference, watch this (brief but very informative):
P.S. I was doing it wrong!!!!

Me too. You know, I remember tying the sash on my daughter's dress using this method. I did one loop in reverse of what I was used to with tying my shoes in the granny knot method. I just noticed the bow stayed in line with the sash around her waist better. I never really thought about it holding longer. Come to think of it, it never came loose no matter how hard she played!
Yeah for sure! I used to have the hardest time keeping my hiking boots tied. They were always coming untied. I even put a half hitch in the loops AFTER the knot and even THAT didn't work.
Once I learned to tie a square bow, I have NEVER had my laces come undone. This has been invaluable to me (and Mr. Pips, too!) Truly, the difference is like night and day. If I were using a "bow" to time my hammock suspension, I sure would make sure it was a SQUARE bow, not a granny bow!

I just always remember for a square bow the saying "Right over left, Left over right "

Haha oh dear I think I'm using the granny one! (The first one in the vid right?) Well, still no sore bum from hammoch.
I don't have sound at work atm so I'll watch it when I'm home. And I'll learn this magic bow knot.
Edit.... Haha after hearing the sound it makes a lot more sense. Very interesting
