That would be a great demo. Let's talk more on there and see if we can't get the word out where and when you will be doing that.

Other than the wild foods class, I'll have my whetstone there if someone wants to learn to sharpen a knife the old-fashioned way (may even bring the fancy new kit I just got to show that too)...and of course, I'm bringing the games tub. Since it sounds like more people will be bringing ther kids this year, we could do something with those unused tent pads and teach 'em marbles.
I've done both the whipping and zip ties. I even made one hammock from some cotton fabric that was being thrown out of a Sunday school supply closet. Whipped the ends with the only cordage I could find on site, yarn. That was 5 or 6 years ago and I still use it on occasion.

Not sure I'll be able to consider the aerial view of the lake the same way again. Reserving comment though on what I see.

+1 I'll have one with a webbing/buckle suspension with me.

Any hints as to a generic list of supplies?

Dang! If it weren't for school I would drive on down. Unfortunately, I am trying to be a grown up and pull up my big girl pants. So no play for this kiddo but you guys have fun. Maybe another time.

    .... and another thing....

I'm thinking about doing a HHH episode on how to make pemmican. I'll be bringing a batch with me. I'd like the groups opinion about how it tastes. I carry pemmican on my longer hikes and trips. However, I'm not so sure that it would be somethng that most people would want to eat.

It's one of those "acquired taste" meals. I'm not sure if it would be a HHH worthy show.

.... it is one of the original "trail foods" though.

Pemmican used to be a staple trail food, predating even gorp. We used to be able to buy some canned stuff at Mickey Finn's Surplus on Elm Street in Manchester, NH and you could even order it from the Herter's catalog.

I'd definetly like to be in on the taste testing, even if just for old time's sake, and definetly would like to know the how-to.

I've had it before, but its been many many years. I vaguely remember something with venison jerky that'd been powdered, pumpkin seeds, some kind of unidentifiable red fruit, and lard. Definitely willing to try it again.
