It's one of those "acquired taste"

.... it is one of the original "trail foods" though.

Well...For my tablecloth hammocks I just use amsteel to whip it (you could use paracord, or just about anything for this,) slap some whoopies on it, and that's it. If you want to do the knotty mod, you'll need some shock cord and a few cord locks.

I'll also be making some whoopies out there, so if anyone is interested in that I would be more than happy to help.

Question: I've got a couple really awesome books that have neat stuff in them. The American Boys Handy Book and a canning and food preservation bible from 1918. The latter is in good condition, and has plans in it even on how to build your own smokehouse and how food preservation was done in the days before refrigeration when it really mattered. Would anybody like me to bring them as well? No, I'm not trading them for anything. But I am willing to let folks look at them.

I'd be interested for sure. I would love to build my own smoke house! Bring them, I'll take pictures of the pages I can use!

It's November 5th and the countdown is on!

    Hey Guys and Gals,

    The weather forecast looks great!

Mike's buying groceries for feeding 90 to 100 hungry folks Saturday morning Breakfast and looking forward to whatever the Saturday evening Pot Luck feast provides. (We're on our own for all the rest.)

Gear is being fiddled with and packed for use, show and tell, or sale/trade. It is at my house anyway.

We're all reviewing previous posts to make sure all the questions are answered or getting ready to ask them in the next day or so as well as reviewing park rules and fees so there are no surprises

Yep, it's just a few days until hammocks swarm into the trees of Fairfield State Park!

Don’t forget your chair for campfire comfort; your dinner ware and plate or bowls, and firewood for individual campsite fires.

Remember, Saturday night is a pot luck dinner. Bring food if you want to chip in and participate. It’s also a good idea to bring a serving utensil.

Did you order Amsteel thru UncleMJM? Bring your $$$ or plan on PayPal by cell phone , or if you prefer to PayPal ahead, PM me, either way is fine. Extra Amsteel has been ordered just in case others want to get in on the action.

Remember - the park entry fee per person per day is separate from the site fee.

If you're staying in a site I reseved, look for a PM later today or in the morning with some additional info.

If you’d like UncleMJM’s cell phone number to "talk you in", PM with yours.

If you are traveling by GPS and you find yourself on a dirt road in a pasture, get a new map service some have been known to get folks lost. Google maps will get you there.

We're almost at "last call" for questions so don't be shy if you have some!

The new iPhone map app WILL most def. send you on the non existing route and it's 20 miles around the power plant and lake to get back! Lol BEWARE!

I have my route typed out using google maps, double checked with a real map, and cell phone is GPS capable should all things go crazy...

    Hey Uncle Mike---

Have we addressed the likely event that there will be more than two cars per campsite issue?

Yes. You and I are on the same wavelength. That's part of what is in the text for the PM I'm sending to those sharing sites I've reserved. I figure since it doesn't apply to all going to address it there.
