Really? I wouldn't think it'd work too well. Gads. I might have to go out tonight and put it up and try it. I want to be fully packed tonight so I don't have to sweat anything tomorrow and can get to bed early. Might be a late one tonight instead.

Howdy y'all. Back from the hike.
Sadly, I didn't have time to properly mod the stock tarp before I left. I tried binder clips to affix it to the underside and I have to admit it was a complete and utter failure. Unfortunately the temp dropped lower than expected and the air was very damp which compounded things. We got down to about 52 and froze my butt off.
Fortunately I'd brought a blanket but if it got out from under me and I hit the bare hammock material I got cold in a hurry. I managed to get enough sleep but it was interesting. My next project will be an underquilt from ClimaShield. Two of the guys I was hanging with had DIY UQs that were very nice. I was surprised to see 6 of 9 in our group hanging.
Can't believe hadn't tried this before. It works great. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any difference i should be aware of since MY STOCK FLY IS NOT SILNYLON, its polyester (the guide uses the silnylon fly). Maybe breathability issuessilnylon might not have, stuff of the sort.
It was really easy to do this mod, and very appropiate for me (im tired of using pads inside the hammock, i have the extra tarp, and don't have money for UQ or SS).
thanks Cajunhiker
