    Anyone in Western Washington?

More specifically Skagit or Whatcom county? Looking for some experienced hangers in the area so I can get a nice close look at some winter setups. I can watch videos and read how-to's until my eyes bleed, but I'll never have the understanding of which I get with some hands-on.

    I can supply beer.

I'm in western bc if that helps. My winter setup is state of the art! Big screen tv, four burner stove, hot and cold running water, and everything else in a house. I don't winter camp. Lol but I'd love to share anything I know, which for the most part is second hand from Shug.

I'm down in King County - but we go nearly every weekend to Leavenworth. I'm also thinking of making a HWY 20 trip possibly THIS weekend (8-18-12).

My winter setup is actually the same as my summer setup, with the addition of more clothing. Down to 15F I usually just wear a down puffy and some hunting pants. Tarp setup is the same, and sleeping pad is the same.

I'll wager strapping on a UQ isn't overly difficult though. Was there something specific you wanted information on?

Mostly just want to compare 3/4 to a full UQ to see which I like better.

Well it depends on where you get cold quickest and what kind of sleeper you are. A 3/4 will leave your feet more exposed, but will be lighter and less bulky. If it were cold enough, the 3/4 may require more creative ways of staying warm, i.e. hot water bottle at your foot end, or putting your pack under your feet, toe warmers, etc...

Also don't forget to put on dry socks right before you crawl into your hammock, it'll definitely help the feet stay warmer.

According to my fiancé, I'm a snoring blast furnace. The few times I've slept in my hammock I've used a fleece blanket and a ccf pad. I wear thermal base layer, synthetic pants, fleece pullover, (Dry!) wool socks with fleece booties. Last Sunday I woke up and had kicked off the booties, stripped off the fleece pull-over and threw my pad on the ground. I was perfectly warm that way down to about 55*.

I'm in Issaquah. I'm new to hanging and wouldn't mind checking out some set ups too. I just got my 3/4 UQ today. I can also supply beer!

I do a lot of winter camping and I plan to up grade my set up before this winter.
