Has anyone tried refletix as a pad in a DL?

This occurred to me last night as I slid my blue pad in between the layers of my new DIY double layer hammock. I wondered what y'all use in there beside a pad.
Reflectix is something I understand many ultralight folks have lying around after they make cozys for their heiny pots. Could it be put to use here?

I have used it. It works well for a cheap wide pad. You can use packaging tape to connect multiple sections. Hennessey sells it with his deep jungle double layer.

Reflectix works great. My local surplus store sells 3 oz pads made just for that purpose. Also, car shades can be had at Wally World for around 5 dollars.

I also find the pads handy for standing on when I'm getting dressed, etc and sitting on from time to time. I think its close to impossible to get that stuff durty.

I just posted my military poncho liner UQ project. If you look at my post you will see where I planned for the option to slide my reflectix pad between the UQ layers.

On every trip, I always bring a sit pad made of reflectix and it has many uses. It is also a pot cozy for my dehydrated meal bags and I also put it underneath my butt for those really cold nights. I put it on top of my pack while hiking which makes me really easy to spot on the trail and has helped my friends locate me on many trips.

I however, wouldn't use it for a full length pad. You could just get a blue pad from Wal-mart which is only $5.

Being a heavy hanger I'm worried about me duplicating the "stepping on bubble wrap" effect.

Now that is a funny picture there Mountain Man.
It plays out in my head like a funny Bob and Doug McKensie routine.
    "Oh, nice one Hozer!"
    "What?"
"Thats what you get when you drink too much Molson before going to bed."
"Its the bubble wrap! Take of, eh!"

I use it in my dbl layer, and it works great . I have the hennessey DJ with the reflective pad. It is geat to use when it gets a little cool, but not cool enough for my UQ. It is also great to use with the UQ when it get real cold.

I cringe at the thought of being the blaster in that scene.

Just this past weekend I tried a bubble-wrap core car sun shade as a pad in my DL.
It worked out ok. Started out really warm (too warm?) and I did get a bit of a cold butt in the early hours - I'm guessing a crease in the shade may have allowed the two sides to touch and xfer heat out ... and I'm up in Canada.
The following night I put a cheap fleece sleeping bag liner around it and it was fine.

My biggest problem was next-day moisture - perhaps from starting out really warm in the evening.

Gotta save up this winter for an UQ next year.

Hey Fronkey, is the blue pad in the camping section at Wal-mart? I've heard a couple of references to the stuff and want to go see it for myself. Thanks, G-Nut.
