    2012 Summer Trip Day 15 - Storm

Camped out at Evangola State Park, Irving, New York. A Storm came through around 1:00 AM woke me up with some rain hitting my face.
I readjusted the tarp to keep me dry. The wind & rain got worse and I was hanging on for my life. The hammock was swing like crazy and I had no place to take cover.

I later found that there were tornado's in the area. I feel lucky!

The same thing happened to my husband & I last Sunday night- we were up in Northern NH and a storm came out of nowhere at 1130pm... drenching rainstorm that reminded me of those foul pop up storms in FL that i grew up with. Our poor dogs woke us up dripping wet. My hammock was swaying back and forth. Once out of my hammock, i was in ankle deep water. And our tarps were hung with the ends directly into the storm. Needless to say we upgraded our tarps to the Superfly with Doors.

Glad you survived the storm. Always a leaning experience.

Wow sounds very scary. I'm not looking forward to my first bad storm in a hammock.

My first night in my HH Expedition with stock tarp, it rained five inches. I stayed dry as a bone because it was straight down rain.

Then I spent the night in a light, blowing rain and got soaked. Bye-bye, Hennessy stock tarp.

Yep, the Hennessy stock tarp will be replaced. Also I will be checking weather reports when I stop for the night.
