Atlas straps

Stopped by REI Last Friday, and returned both sets of Slap Straps that I had purchased, and got the replacement Atlas straps. Going to Hopefully try them out this weekend. Will post how they work!

I'm pretty excited to hear reports on the new atlas straps. Almost making me regret changing my ENO over to whoopies. I like the concept of the atlas/slapstraps. Hope the atlas straps work.

Haven't gotten to take them on an overnight, but I've spent several hours studying between trees with them and loved it. Very large improvement from the original SlapStraps IMO.

I've backpacked in two windy thunderstorms where the trees I was hanging from were moving quite a bit. After each storm, I was about the same distance from the ground as before the thunderstorms moved in. I have not noticed any stretch with these Atlas straps. The extra loops on each strap makes it a lot easier to setup my hammock.

Had my straps for a month and finally got to use them this weekend. They worked great. My hammock stayed where I hung it and I didn't have to reset it after a night's sleep. My set up felt stronger too. I like them very much; they are a huge improvement over the slap straps.

I got a sweet deal on mine. Ordered them from http://www.austinkayak.com/on 8-7, got them in 8-9, and saved 5 bucks off retail!

But anyway, I really enjoy this method of suspension as they have a sturdy quality to them that is reassuring. I've never used the original slap straps so I have no comment on the stretch of the those. I do know that Atlas Straps worked just fine on my in-laws deck posts this past weekend

I picked a set of Atlas straps at REI last weekend.

Used them twice this week, didn't have any stretch issues and at 5' 11' , 300 lbs, sort of expected some.

My packaging said the straps were polyfilament, is there such a thing as Atlas 2.0 straps...now poly?

After searching the forums a bit (duh), found the answer...Atlas ARE ENO's answer to the dreaded nylon pro straps! So Atlas 1.0 really are the 2.0 answer from ENO as they finally make a poly strap, the Atlas!

Gotta say, these things are nice. No stretch, stupid easy to use and now my goto for car camping or weekend overnights.

I was intrigued by the Atlas system and considered it but I looked at the weight + biners, and the price and decided against it.
