The AT thru-hike is a long term goal of mine. Husband, not so much!
I'm training for it gradually, strengthening ankles and knees, with some section hikes planned in the next few months. What gear will you take? Still working on it?

...THAT'S a point, any ladies use a she-wee? Is it just a UK thing?
I'm English, but I've been there online here in the USA! Hilarious! I shan't go into details for the sake of all the lads on here. They don't want to hear my review on that piece of kit!

    Hi BLA,

Still working on the gear, accumulating it piece by piece. We had most of the camping gear, I'm working on clothes now--wool, fleece, down, and synthetic. Nice to meet a Brit on the forum! Two of my children went to school in England for a semester each, part of a study-abroad program. And we have friends in Glasgow, their son lived with us for a year as an exchange student.

Conwy, Wales, is my very favorite place to visit!

Cool! Wales is beautiful. My Mum is Welsh/Scots. I have family all over Cardiff and Carmarthenshire.

You may see me on a stretch of the AT! Are you hiking Northbound?

I believe it's designed with extreme cold temperatures in mind, so we don't have to bear all to go for a pee.

I believe it would also be handy in the case of a nasty porta-john or restroom.....ick.....

It's designed for camping, whatever the temperature!! It's especially useful (I hear) when festival loos are clogged up with god knows what and the ques are stupidly long. Pop round the back with your sheewee and the job's a good'n!

I love mine, much easier than squatting I tells ya. Plus you can quickly turn around when a dog walker walks by. Quite awkward. But less awkward than having to sit there and smile sweetly

Y'know there's a shewee extreme? It's got an extension tube and everything. We ordered one from work (millets) for fun... I didn't see it on the shelf the next day :P

If blokes have hoses, why can't we!!

    Shewee extreme

I have a similar device that I have had for years. Nice for cold weather and gross porta-potties.

Just found the Shewee website a few days ago.
Ordered the extreme model. Looks like a nice improvement over what I have used previously. Comes with a carrying case, too.
