Thanks for the trip report Skipper. You're fortunate to be within driving range of such nice terrain. No such luck from the Miami end of Florida. Sounds like you perfectly timed this for the unbelievably nice weather. Good luck on your AT trip!

Very nice! I'm glad there was a good break in the weather for it to be enjoyable for y'all.
    It's a hammock thing, you won't understand!

The wife no longer kicks me out of bed after she saw a hammock hanging in the dog house.

Great trip report----Ive been on those trails many times, but its been a while................too long! Hopefully in a few weeks!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Mighty fine trip briefing.....lucky to get those Fall-like temps. And going with old friends tops it off.

You just don't know (about the weather, that is...)! As we were driving up on Saturday morning, we had sporatic rain showers until just 30 miles below Cheaha, and then it cleared out nearly 100%. On Monday, when we were about 1/2 way out, it suddenly became overcast (keeping the temps down a bit) and on the way home, a massive line of thunderstorms rolled through the area again. Missed the rain by 3-4 hours on either end.
