It looks like a nice big shelter for car camping. Lots of protection and durable too. Would also serve as a "kitchen" tarp with the included poles.

As for backpacking, my netted 11' hammock, tarp and 3 season quilts with a pillow, combined weigh less.

the poles come in 4 sections each. the sections are about 21 inches long, about 81 inches put together. my poles arent painted like in the pic, just silver like alum. or galv. i dont know what the coating is but im gonna paint mine black to protect from the weather, and to hide the shiney silver part

How are the poles? What is the diameter? Are they sturdy and good quality?

Does anyone have an actual weight yet for just the tarp itself...without the poles, bags and line?

nope - but I ordered one over the weekend.
yesterday i got an email from them that it's now on sale for $26.99/$29.99 -- if anyone has ordered one in the past 30 days at the old $35.99/$39.99 price, call them and they will credit you the difference.

postal scale - if it's not big enough I'll weigh myself with and without the tarp in my hands - should be close enough.

How did they get that sleeping bag, that chair, the tarp, and the poles into that tiny backpack in the picture?
