Western Washington Hang?

We will try to make it, Sarah works until 1600 hrs on Saturday.
Willow had so much fun at the Scott Lake Hang, she is ready to go again. I have to go to the Tahoma Vet. Cemetary that weekend so it works out fairly well.

I will bring cookies and maybe biscuits if people are interested in that type of food.

If I don't get it made this weekend I make take that help.
But I plan on getting that and some trail work done before then.

Still a ways out, but if everyone that's currently talking about going goes..
We have about 15 people. And that number seams to be growing.
We will start putting together a list of people in a couple weeks.

Is the area a "car camping" style area, or do we hike in a bit? I think this will determine what we bring for potluck. I mean hey if we can bring in a 4 burner propane stove then that means someone can make chilli or stew fixens and what not. But if its "hike it in" a bit, then were limited to muffins, chips and dip type things.

Just asking, either way I am still down to go. My wife is actually thinking about coming along as well...This will be her first hang if she does.

There is a short hike to the hammock area. Not far at all. Less than 1/4 mile if that. There is also a covered area and picnic tables up top where the cars will be. So there are options.

The trail itself is a little rough but not to bad, there is only one decent little drop (really large step) that i'm going to put stairs on this weekend to make it more manageable. Would your wife be in a hammock?

I do not understand why we can not have something a little classier than "Chips & Dips". When my kids were little, we backpacked into areas that were undeveloped, we ate well. I never gave the kids junk food.

I will bet if we all put on our thinking caps we can come up with some yummy vitals. Try Dirty Gourmet, and many other sites for some hints. All that being said, we need to be careful about food preparation, keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold, sanitation is also important. No food borne illness and all that stuff.

We make biscuits and all kinds of good food, takes a little prep time at home, but it is quick to fix over a fire, and I think we all know that food cooked over a fire is always better.
