UGQ now offers resist down making buying a top quilt difficult!

UGQ now has water resistant down in their quilts. This happens right before I was going to pull the trigger on a revelation x quilt! Needless to say I am torn between the extra 30 dollars for the resistant down quilt or less for 3 oz more of normal down and whatever color combo I want at no extra charge. Definitely need some opinions!

If you want the best,,,that is offered in down..and not have to worry about no insulation if totally wet..I would go for it. Its top of the line. If I hadn't bought 6 TQ and UQ's this year myself,,and 3 last yr,,I would go for it. But will have to sell off what I have for me and the wife first. And eventually you will see me doing some selling! Especially on the UQ's.

In all my years of camping I've never gotten my down sleeping bag more than a little damp. I don't think down is naturally hydrophilic. Im sure that this new type is good, but with a little care I think plain old down is pretty good. Has anyone here really wet out a sleeping bag by accident when camping?

That was my thought too, maybe for the underquilt that would make sense but I don't see my top quilt getting wet, then again I have never had a top quilt.

I think if you are going to be out for an extended period of time the extra $$ would be worth it, esp. In areas of wet and fog. Most people keep good top quilts for years. Hah! For me it's decades!
