    Slap Straps?

In the past i have used nylon webbing and shock cord to hang my hammock but i spend a long time trying to remove the knot after it has been cinched so tightly. I considered buying slap straps but the ratings are not that good. ANyone have a preferred way to hang their hammock with nylon webbing?

Don't use nylon webbing, use polyester webbing. Nylon stretches, thus, your butt will be on the ground by morning. If you buy ENO straps, get the new polyester ones called Atlas straps instead. Personally, go to arrowhead and get their sale suspension system for 16 bucks, hit up youtube, and mod your eno... 1/3 the price, 1/3 the weight, too. Everyone will tell you the same

I use 15 feet of 1.5" nylon webbing. Sew loops at the end of each piece of the webbing. For additional length adjustment, you can always sew an additional loop in the middle of the length of webbing.

I highly recommend against nylon. My first time hanging my hammock I tried the nylon even though everybody told me not to. I didnt notice it stretching to much at first. Few hours later I understood why. Besides Polyester does not degrade like nylon does when exposed to UV rays, also polyester webbing does better when it comes to being soaked by rain. It sheds water better and tends to have little or no problems with mold and mildew.

All I did was go on Amazon and buy 30 yards of 1 Inch Polyester Webbing and Flipped one end over and stitched it to create a Loop(Bite) and "Volia" you have tree straps. I spend $8 Total. Free shipping.

I'm not a fan of my slap straps, I'm upgrading to polyester as soon as I can. But for the time being, I'll be using the slap straps to go around the tree as normal but attaching to the hammock using a whoopie sling and toggle. No knots to untie! I love tying knots, but I hate untying them haha

    +1 Polyester

Bought my material from StrapWorks. Made a loop at one end with a couple of boxed X stitching and any old thing for a toggle.

The Strapworks straps are pretty heavy duty ... I get mine from Paul at Arrowhead (one of our cottage industry vendors on HF). Light weight, durable and Paul's good people to deal with.

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

No offense to those that speak against the Nylon webbing, but I love it. I use the 1: tubular webbing from REI. It is the same webbing I used back in my rock climbing days. I sewed in a 2: loop at one end and feed the tag end through. I then use toggles for my whoopie slings.

Just make sure it is some tough stuff. You know those tie-down straps you get from the tool storrs.... the yello kind with the buckle and the ratcheted end.... they break.

I would highly reccomend the 1" tubular webbing from REI. You can't go wrong with it. I have used it for years and it does NOT stretch.
