Not great but also not bad. Squirming around in the sleeping bag at first was a nightmare. Then situating the pad took some creative thinking. After that I was comfortable till about 3. For some strange reason my back started to hurt. Still haven't figured out why. Maybe the sag was off?? Had to readjust a couple different times through the night, but I was expecting that. Then the chickens decided it was time to get up around 4. So all in all an okay learning night.

So, you did post in the right place..so we could tell you that you could simply use a clark with the pockets and forgo the pad

Stick with it. It takes some people a little time to get things right. An underquilt and a top quilt do make a huge difference when it comes to moving in the hammock. If you convert an old sleeping bag into an underquilt and use another bag unzipped as a top quilt it would be more comfortable and not as expensive as buying a set.

Honestly, I just use a sleeping bag with the croc roll technique. I get in, roll to the right, pull up the left side, roll to the left, pull up the right. I use the clark pockets, and if I need more, the Hennessy reflector pad. I've had the Hennessy down to 35 degrees with a 50 deg bag wearing nothing but boxers and was warm underneath (on top, different story). No pockets on the HH for insulation either. I don't have an underquilt, at least not yet, but hasn't really stopped me for 3 season stuff.

Or sit on the hammock, then pull end of partly-zipped hammock over the feet you extend out from the edge. Pull bag up fully over feet and swing feet over and onto hammock.

This is how I started till it got up to about my shoulders. That's where I had the most trouble. Try to get it that last few inches and no ripples all at the same time. But it's no high end bag anyway so I needed it pulled all the way up.
