Has anyone tried to insulate the hammock itself

I own an extra ENO and would like to try it.

I was thinking of simply using velcro to attach a CCF to the bottom of the hammock, this would prevent the pad from sliding around.

Or make the hammock itself part of the bottom insulation rather than hang insulation under it? I think that building an UQ using the bottom of the hammock may cause your body weight to compress the loft but there must be a way around that.

    Go to http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/d...ex-underquilt/

Instead of insultex, sew climashield or primaloft to a layer of 1.1 oz breathable nylon. Size this like the bottom layer of the above instructions. Then sew this directly to the bottom of the hammock.

The t rick is to make sure that the insulated layer is larger both in width & length such that it still hangs loosely under the hammock when you are in it. Your body weight is going to stretch the hammock quite a bit and compress the insulation, making it useless.

JustJeff has tried it. His attempts can be found here, under "WarmHammock" and "DownHammock".

    Hope it helps!
