Just got visited by a skunk last night. Barely dared to breath, both for the stink and really strong desire to not startle it!

Try hanging a game camera on a tree near you and see what you come up with !!
Spot the moose
Don't know if it's close enough to count as an encounter.. fishing the river during the day I saw both moose and bear tracks in the bog. Then at sundown I heard a big splash as mama moose came for a drink.
We had a coyote run into camp last winter. 2am and the little punk would NOT shut up. I eventually got up and came around to the other side of this large rock where he was running circles and yipping. He took one look at me, shut up, and trotted off. It was cool to see his tracks the next morning!
Then one time we had a skunk walk through camp. This was before we were hanging, and it came within about a foot of my girlfriends head. Definitely just held very still for that one.
My hangs have been pretty peaceful, however my son had a squirrel drop a load on him while taking a nap!
Hey DJ, I am enjoying your blog, thats a great thing you are doing, keep it it up you have passed the halfway mark!
Skunks...multiple occasions. None have resulted in a smelly mess thankfully.

My first hang ever and I was tossing up whether to set up the tarp or not. Didn't really look like rain but I did anyway. Glad I did because a possum decided to share a tree with me. At first it was pissed off with the suspension getting in his way and was making all sorts of noise as he tried to climb up. Then he proceeded to drop bits and pieces of fruit/seeds all night from higher up and even took a wizz all over my tarp a couple of times.
That and of course drop bears...

When I was younger (say; 30 years) My grandpa and I went on a fishing trip. We slept in the van, and a big (at least to a 8yr. old) came in our camp and ransacked everything. It then jumped up to look in the van and scared the (expletive word) out of me. The paw and nose prints were on the window for about 6 months.
