I was thinking of using inch thick green oak because it would give where as dow rods are dried and more brittle. When I get mine I will test. ps come on brandon
What do you think about using a tree limb for the ridge runner the same question I asked shug any ideas. rngn p.s. are the ridge runners in stock still. thanx rngn
sure, it's possible, carving the tip would be the hardest part, but you could buy our pole tips or something and just put those on the end of the stick (you'd want 4 of the carbide end tips, the one for the threaded screw wouldn't work as well)
Got my RR today and went straight out to give it a trial run... I'm really liking it!

I got mine today and tried my phoenix with extenders of course and also my phoenix/incubator hybrid of 65 inches and the 65 inch hybrid fits best. You lose the ability of the saddle bags as Yukon has pointed out.
Also used three tarps on this today. Tadpole with no panel pulls and had to pitch low and flat almost it's covers but in a sideways rain your up creek. BMJ with no panel pulls and it's fine. The ends of the spreader bars do not bother me. Not with my cuben hex it's another story. I think I might send my hex back tI stormcrow fOr additional tie outs. All tarps cOvered though.
Took a 30 minute nap and went on a 3 hour oasis. You struck gold Brandon. Thanks for your inventive spirit and making a quality bridge hammock.

Just got my RR & set it up this morning. Rigging it to a couple trees was a snap, but with the bridge suspension, it was a little long to work on my stand. The BRBH was the same way, but it works with the webbing cinched up most of the way. I thought I read on here someone that got one a little earlier on had it rigged on a byer of Maine vario stand. If so, was it just hung from the amsteel loops & adjusted via the stand? The only other thing I can think of to get it hung indoors on the stand, is to mess the 3 adjustments on the arms & middle. Kind of running out of room with this pesky bed taking up too much space in the hammock room. Early impression is that it is a pretty awesome hammock, test run out back will be tonight, & field test & report later this month.
I didn't use a vario stand, but did use a similar-sized Home Depot hammock stand. I hung directly on the Amsteel loops.
