    8 days later...

Well my amsteel finaly came in today, 8 days after i orderd it...Thats not the point tho , I made my first set of Whoopies, I have 13ft of amsteel left and can't decide what to make with it. I don't want it make a ridge line with it i feel like that would be wasting it and i don't have much, that stuf is like gold
I made them 4ft long seeing as i have 15ft tree straps. If that doesn't get around the tree and give me enough to hang from then I need to find another tree
It's not the fall im scared of, it's the sudden stop at the end!!!

Very nice. You got right to work

I'd take a look at the PIF thread. See something you like? Claim it and toss that 13 back at it.

I also like to make a couple of continuous loops. I use these if the trees are too close for the whoopies. I just girth hitch them to the hammock, then around the MSH.

    SweetLou:

I'm not sure what you mean by that. First of all, I'm new so I'm not sure what an MSH is. Also, as far as the "trees too close together" problem? Do you mean that your whoopie sling can't contract enough to tighten the hammock? (I think I'm understanding that part.)

I'm interested in what the MSH component is.

Sorry, MSH is shorthand for a Marlin Spike Hitch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8Yvvt39Luk It is a popular method of attaching a hammock to the huggers.

Yes, you can't tighten the hammock enough. If the trees are too close together, then you can't get a proper sag. If you have 18" of bury, the fixed and the adjustable loops, then certain trees will be too close. But if you made a 6" loop, then you can use the loop instead of the whoopies in this case. You just girth hitch it to your hammock and attach to your huggers in the manner you prefer.
