Yes, very distinctive and vomit inducing! And if I smell it, I tend to make sure my bear spray is even more ready than normal - nothing attracts bears like a free meal and I don't want to be dessert. (And if I am, I'm going to be a really spicy one with all the pepper spray I'll unload first.)

bear are very common in that area of the Whites! and i too have heard they stink to high heaven.
