Replacing the spike of a MSH with a carabiner solves the problem. I have no stock in a carbiner company but received my Ti carabiners today and am thoroughly impressed. Ti is awesome!

Ok, since I'm new to whoopies, and I can't seem to find it elsewhere, what's a "MSH"?
I like the idea of the fixed end going on the knot, so I guess Dutch hooks are to be ordered tomorrow. Just received my BIAS today and am hoping to be playing with the Whoopies this weekend.

The spike can be anything that will hold the knot like a stick, piece of aluminum arrow, bone, your son's finger (tell him you'll take turns), or a carabiner.
Try putting a sliding whipping knot on your whoopies. I use them on my new dynaglide whoopies and the diamond knot attachment. Take a look at Grizz's vid, he explains it all very well. I have used them 3-4 times so far and no problem.

My purpose here was to offer another simple alternative to those folks who may have trouble with tying knots. I have used the whipping knot with success as well but it can be kind of complicated for some to tie. This seemed like an extremely simple little safeguard for those who have had the loop come off on occasion. It is like a parking brake. Use it if you feel you need to. Sorry I missed this earlier. I am talking about using the adjustable loop end over the knot. That is the most common configuration for most Whoopie users as far as I know, though many put the stationary loop over the MSH and use something like a Dutch Hook to attach the adjustable end to the hammock.
I love tying knots, I just hate untying them
@GaryBunk, That looks really cool! I am having a hard time visualizing this in action though. It may be because I'm not familiar with whipping (which I hear pretty often in the DIY threads) or whipping knots. Is there a video I can watch to see this in action?

Watch the video, the knot is very easy to tie, I now have them on everything sort of. As in the video it holds the continuous loop attacked to you hammock to the whoopie and diamond knot. I added them to the adjustable loop end on all my whoopie slings, (see picture) also for son and grandson's rigs. They are now on the ridge line ends, which makes it nice as you can use a larger loop and just squeeze it down with the slider. Just remember to not tie the knot to tight as you want it slide semi easily. It really helps make the MSH very safe and lets you fasten the whoopie on securely but easily removable.
