    New Hanger - Need Help

I am a new hanger. Last week I purchased a Doublenet ENO to use in Vermont this weekend. I slept fairly well in it for two nights. Not sure I love it. In the Spring I am car camping across country and I want to use a hammock as I go from NJ to Canada back down to Ohio, and due wes to Washington, where I will head back up to Vancouver before heading down the coast of California and ending up at the southwestern area of Utah. While in Utah I hope to be a wilderness therapy guide. I would prefer to hang rather than tent it.

I have read a little about the Warbonnet Blackbird. Should I trade in my ENO for the WB BB?

Hey feller......might not be the ENO but the way it was hung. Not saying it was but I have seen it before. Some hang it too tight between trees. It may need some Sag.
Did you sleep at an angle (the preferred way) or straight like a banana?
The BlackBird is a terrific hammock. But there are many other choices as well.
Look here.....http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2 Lot of different hammocks listed for your perusing pleasure.
I have a BlackBird and love the shelf and the integrated bug-net for skeeter season.

I agree, the first time I hung my ENO I hung it too tight and didn't like it. I did a little reading and fixed my problem by introducing some sag.

Shug is right about checking you set up. Also if you can, attend a group hang in your area so you can check out other set ups.

The BB is very nice hammock and while I own a ENO DN I use my BB for overnight camping as most of the areas aroung my area tend to be very buggy.

    also...welcome to the madness

I picked the WBBB because of the bugnet, an attached bugnet will be a great benefit to you where you are going.

    Talking Thanks and...

Thanks for everyone's replies. I did purchase the Guardian bug net.

That aside, I think I read a few things last week that stated that the two hammocks hang differently because of their differing suspension designs. I bought the Atlas straps from REI. Should I still look into the WB BB?

They seem to work fairly well. Although I live in a townhouse and have tried hanging it on my porch. I wrapped one strap around a wooden post/privacy fence that separates my unit from my neighbor's.

The other strap I wrapped around the aluminum post and drainpipe. Unfortunately the strap causes small indentations on the square corners of the post. Is there a way to loosen or rig the straps to prevent this?

Thank you Shug for the videos. Very informative (and comical.) did I miss a section about loosening the straps causing the hammock to sag more?

    Happy Hanging,
    Brian

i think shug mentions it in one of his first videos briefly not sure which atm though but thats what people use a ridge line for to adjust the amount of sag the hammock has

I have a ENO DN and when I started playing with it I could not get it right. This forum helped me a ton. I added a AR to play with the Sag and it sleeps well now. I can set it up in a matter of minutes now that I have the ridge line set for the right sag. I don't know about the WBBB but from what I read it's the cats meow... I'm 6' and 250lbs have a pad inside and a 32 degree down sleeping bag at a TQ and have slept down to about 40 degress with no problem.
