2 Pole Hanging System

Hello, Im a complete newbie to this site and wanted to share my diy project since I have got a lot of good info from members.

So I got an ENO Singlenest with slap straps as a gift for my birthday a few months back and haven't been able to use it at the house due to no suitable trees or supports to hang from. I searched the DIY section and found many great options but not exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a simple design that didn't take up space in my yard. The turtledog design for example is a great idea, but in my opinion, a major eye sore!!

So I came up with this setup:

(2) 9 ft. long Steel tubes that fit snuggly into 2.5 ft long sleeves that are cemented permanently into the ground. And thats all there is to it! I still have to find some caps for the tops of the poles and caps for the sleeves when they are not in use, but I'm too busy hanging to care right now.

I have read about 4x4's with braces and ridgeline support but I wanted a more sturdy design. Let me know what you think!

Very nice. What is the diameter of the steel tubes? Is that 9' out of the ground or after you lace it in the sleeves? Thanks for sharing.

Looks great. That's exactly what I'm planning but I luckily only need one pole. Problem is I'll be hanging 2 hammocks from it (already have 2 trees but I want to hang 3 hammocks). Do you get much flex on the poles?

I'm stuck with this sandy Florida soil so I'm not sure exactly how deep I need to sink the pole. Looks like a nice setup that the spouse, neighbor, HOA can't gripe about.

Off hand I think the main poles are 2" in diameter with the sleeves being a little bigger. The poles themselves only stick out of the ground about 6.5 feet. They flex a little bit but I haven't seen any permanent bend to the poles when I take them out and the still are level when they are in. My soil here in Colorado is mostly hard-pan clay, so in sandy soil I would definitely beef up the base. Maybe even use a sona-tube for the concrete which is basically a cardboard form for light posts.

A lightweight way? For 2 poles, the steel poles are not that bad. And given that they are semi-permanent, Im dont think Ill be moving them around that much.
