I'm getting close to a complete rig...how long did it take you to get "dialed in"?

I have my ENO DN w/ whoopies & marlin spikes, getting a hex tarp, 3/4 length UQ, associated ridge lines and tie outs/stakes, now I need a TQ and a bug net. I started collecting a little over a year ago, it'll be about 2 years total once I'm done. I've had two hammocks and eventually 2 tarps so that accounts for a little bit of time/budget that kept me from my ultimate goal, for a short period of time.

My setup is good right now but I always seem to find something to make it even better for me. I think that is part of what makes it fun always tinkering with your gear, making improvements, tweaks and such.

About a year and a half maybe a little more, my setup changes as I learn more, stuff like whoopies and a ridgeline etc.

A lot more to hanging a Hammock that I had ever imagined.

To get it "dialed in" well enough to use? About a month.

To get it "dialed in" enough that I'm completely satisfied with it? About five minutes after they plant me in the ground.

I enjoy fiddling with stuff too much to not continue to try and figure out different ways of doing the same things. So, it's a continued process. On the other hand, once I figure out something that works really well with me, I'm reluctant to mess with it. So, lots of little incremental improvements with one or two big changes along the way.

"COMPLETE?" That sentiment doesn't exist on these forums!

In that I have a hammock, tarp and insulation. Now after that, of course I'll start "collecting"

As far as a workable hammock setup, I'm dialed. As far as the LIGHTEST, MOST CONVENIENT setup?

Hehehehehehehe I'm about $500 away from that one. Just need a CF python skin for the hammock, a mesh python skin for the tarp, and maybe a few CF pouches for the camera and ID/Credit Card/Cash. And a custom CF 8'x8' diamond tarp.

Then maybe some additions to the first aid kit. (Reading the survival books really makes my REI first aid kit seem... inadequate for a real emergency.)

Then maybe a portable fly rod & tackle...

Then... Oh crud, I think I've exceeded my $500.
