I flop and toss around a lot when I sleep. The hammock was really uncomfortable and I found myself constantly trying to get rearranged and comfy every time that I flopped over. It made for a miserable night and I finally bagged it around 2:30.

I tend to move around a fair amount in my hammock too, at first I was wondering if it would work out for me. Not that I wasn't comfortable, just that I wasn't staying asleep as I moved around. It took me a few outings to get the hang tuned and my lay figured out. Ear plugs helped with getting back to sleep quicker.

Still I tend to wake through the night but the comfort factor trumps that in spades.

I would encourage you to give it more of a chance, there will still be a market for your gear. Earlier this year, there was another hanger here on the forum who sold off his gear almost immediately after starting and wound up getting back into it successfully.

Good luck with whatever you decided.

This is the For Sale Forum and I certailnly don't wish to clog up your attempted sale, but I would truly suggest picking up Derek's book, "The Ultimate Hang" before you throw in the towel, since you've already made a substantial investment.

Derek himself has mentioned that he tossed and turns regularly in a bed, but a hammock helps overcome that. (That may not be in the book), but I know he's mentioned it. Anyway, I'd really suggest perusing some of the other threads and giving it another shot. Should you wish to sell, it will no doubt. Whomever does acquire it may keep hearing the words "Out, darn spot" in their heads but that's there own conscience.

The first couple of times I used my hammock I wondered if it was worth it. Then, all of a sudden, Nirvana! I stopped trying to sleep the way I do in a bed and let the hammock do the work.

In bed, I'm a flip-flopping side sleeper. In the hammock, I'm a relaxed, non-moving back sleeper.

Give it a shot, it worked for me.

Like others here I would give it another try. I would go so far as to try another hammock. It took me 2 or 3 hammocks before I really found the one that fits just right. I too toss and turn constantly, in a bed, in a tent, or in a hammock. I toss and turn less in a hammock once I get settled into my sweet spot. If everyone throughout history gave up after one or two tries where would we be now? If you find its still not for you, well then, more trees for the rest of us.

It takes more than one night to make it right! Seriously, play with the set up and try to dial it in a couple times. I have had a couple frustrating nits myself, but once you get it right it's awesome.

I still like sleeping on the ground too though, so I can understand that as well. I would just give it a little longer if you can...
