I enjoyed the trip I was invited to participate in. I hope you all enjoy the new video. This was my first time out in a while I spent two nights out. A weekend full of new experiences.
Looks like it was a fun trip. Nice and relaxing...well, other than the guy screaming in the street at four AM. Still, it led to that beautiful sunrise, so not all bad.
Pisgah looks like it's a really nice place to hike. How does the elevation change along the Art Loeb compare to the FHT?
That tarp got a bit of a workout, it seems. I love the sound of rain on a tarp. Is it significantly more noisy than a nylon tarp? It seemed like there was a little more echo with it, but that might just be a camera mic artifact.
Glad you stayed warm. Fifties in the hammock can be a little chilly if you're not prepared.
Thanks for taking us along!

Well you were in the company of Gorge Rats ... and fine Gorge Rats at that! Man it was good seeing Cookie, Detail Man, Pod and most definitely HB & RF! It's been 36 years ago this fall since I've been on that section of the Art Loeb so it was mighty nice to see it again!

Thanks for the video trip report FIMB. I had yet another great time out in the "Piney Woods".
The skies had been threatening all day but held up just long enough for everyone to get shelter up. A major plus
Thanks!!

Looks like a great trip. Glad you guys got to get out and enjoy a beautiful weekend. See everyone sometime...
It was relaxing. The sunrise was great! I love Pisgah, but I wish the Art Loeb had more water...that you could get to. The Art Loeb is 30.1miles long and over the course of that the total elevation change is ~17,000'. I hope to make a day out of the whole thing this fall or early next spring depending on how my Ultra goes this Sept.
I did not notice more noise, but considering I'd have a tin roof on our home if my wife let me, I love the music of rain on cuben. A good group of guys to help me stay warm. Even though I didn't use RF's coat and used Pod's fleece, it was nice of them all. Not even to mention Cookie with all of that wood for the fire.
Yes indeed. I hope you get to see ol' Art again soon.
You are very welcome, sir. I was glad we put up our tarps before DM and I went for water...that would have been bad.
Thanks, I'll try. Grad school starts back up soon, so the reports will dwindle some. Boy do I enjoy that sound too.
It was a great trip. It was a beautiful weekend. We will see you soon...and your wonderful new baby too. Live vicariously as much as you want, you'll be out again soon enough. Family always comes first. Now...if you want to consider doing the Art Loeb in a single day with me and maybe another buddy, could you get away for a day? A long day, but still.
Thanks for taking us along on y'alls trip. That first night included some mighty fine eats! Looks like a great time was had by all.
Gorgeous photos.
Thought that the two hikers in the background on that portrait of you was a ranger on an horse at first! Funny how one's mind plays tricks sometimes...
