Pulk, Hammock, Winter Quilts, Trekking poles with spades, Boots and other snow gear.
Food, Flask of Laphroaig 18, Stove/fuel, Camera, Thermometer, firewood and a stubbornness to not fail!

Ok 4 of us are headed up there tomorrow afternoon!
Current forecast says mid 20's during the day and 18-20 at night.
I Love camping in the SNOW!!!!
Pulk and gear all dusted off and ready for the exploring!
Will bring my GPS to get better info on distance and location.
And if I can figure out how to post the GPS info I will!

Ok well after traveling from the Snow Park to the Camp Ground I no long think its a good option for most people. It would drastically change the number of people willing to go. On the maps there is a road that gets really close but that road is basically non existing at this point and we required a lot of off trail exploring to make it.

So in interest in numbers and the ability to have firewood there and overall fun.. I think the best choice is to just return to Frog Lake again this year.
Its a bit closer to Portland, and the CG is MUCH closer to the cars. This would allow people to day trip if needed and the hike in is all groomed and only 1/2 a mile.

Frog Lake parking area is Located right off HWY 26
About 60 miles past Sandy (coming from Portland)
You will need a Sno-Park Pass to park here.

    GPS
    Latitude Longitude
    N 45 13.350 W 121 41.533

Its basically the same directions you just don't go quite as far down 26..

Yeah, after the fun we had finding the campground at Clear Lake, I think Frog Lake is a much better choice! Lots of fun scouting the area though...and of course, trying out my new UQ and backpacking in the snow for the first time were all highlights!

    snow scouts THANKS!

thanks for making the scouting run - with the round of systems that passed through this past week i assumed the snow dump would be powerful.

frog lake sounds like great place to return to. tradition!

(now if garyR can finish me a pulk, i'm happy to tow in some firewood and spirits!!)
