Geology Field Camp - 2012 (Video)

This Video is one that I just made a couple days ago. Spent five weeks in South Dakota/Wyoming for a geology class. It was about 85 inside at night so three of us moved outside after about 4 nights and spent the rest of our time sleeping in hammocks. The first night I slept outside I actually woke up at 4am to the surprise of being pounded by the sprinkler system from every direction. I grabbed my quilt and underquilt and ran them to the sprinkler boundary before collecting the rest of my stuff (I ended up sleeping inside that night).

I moved past the sprinkler system (learned my lesson) to a spot by the creek that ran through the property. That's were three of us made our second home. We spent some nights battling intense lightening and these really weird hot winds. These winds would start blowing, and instead of being nice and cool (breezy) the temperature would rise about 15 to 20 degrees to the point were I would have to remove both quilts. They would also gust incredibly hard and on two separate occasions ripped a tab off of my tarp so that it would just flap loudly around (spent the night inside one of those nights too).

Anyways, here's a short 2 minute video of the 5 weeks compiled down. Its got some hammock action in it. There's one short clip of a 200lb guy in his eno pronest covered by his blue walmart tarp (actually just about how I started as well) that I personally enjoyed a lot. I tried to help him out, but there's only so much you can do.

Here's the link - Watch it in HD if you can:

Wish we'd been able to hammock 25 years ago at our field camp in Montana.

Awesome thanks everyone! I'm heading out on a climbing trip this upcoming weekend so I'll see if there is something I can put together for that.

Acer: I'm just using Windows Live Movie Maker that comes with windows. So far it has been able to do everything I need to do. I put together the timelapse segments together in a program called GoPro Cineform Studio. Its a free program I downloaded from their site.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I can get some more out soon.
