JRB Graylock 3 Vs. HG 20° Phoenix

I was wondering what everyone's opinions are on these two underquilts? There very close on price. The HG has 900 fill where the JRB has 800. Just looking for the best bang for my buck. I'm Limited to around $180 and both of these quilts are just under that price. Also what would be the approx. compressed size.

I am also open to other manufactures, I would like to stick with down over synthetic.

    Thanks for all your help.
    -John

I really dont have much experience with a pheonix and absolutely none with a greylock, but you might want to look into a Leighlo quilt. She recently came back from hiatus and her work is excellent

    Just my opinion here

I have a grey lock and I have a hg. It's seems *** if there is too much material or more than what is needed for maximum loft on the grey lock. That said-I find a weightier down quilt can offer more warmth sometimes. I personally use my hg more because the baffles run parralel to the hammock so I feel there are less cold spots involved than on my greylock where the baffles are perpendicular to the hammock. I also like the way it looks more. I haven't shopped around in a while but the hg price is prolly better as well new.

I have both and have had them for a while now! The Graylock can be had with 900 fill if you want it too (choose the FP in a drop down box when you place your order).

Now with that said there are some differences, the JRB only comes in the color combo seen on their page (green/black) your only customization is the fill power (800 or 900).
The HG Phoenix can be had in a variety of color's, as well as different fabric's, it can be fully customized if you so choose for an additional cost.

My Graylock has always lofted without issue, no extra fabric flopping around and the loft is pretty amazing.

The suspension's of the quilts differ as well, also the shape of the quilts differ.

I have "Never" had a problem with either one and they have kept me and my family very warm on some very cold nights.

JRB stuff they have in stock, so your order will be shipped right away. HG will do the same if it is in stock (see their web page for in stock items) if not in stock then you will have a wait for your item(s).

You can't go wrong with either one, great quilt's from great people. My personal choice is HG.

My Greylock 3 has great loft too, more than its rating. I have never been cold or had a cold spot in the Greylock.

Thanks for the input, I am now a proud owner of a Leighlo 3/4 length, 30° under quilt. I test hung it the day I received it. It only took a couple of mins to get it dialed in. Now to do an overnight test.
