    Sources for cheap(er) down

Is $2.60/oz a good deal for 750FP down?

I've been looking around online for some good down and I'm running out of options to make a "cheap" top quilt so now I'm opening up options to buying pillows/comforters/etc and just ripping them apart (carefully) for the down.

Where did you find down for that price?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Ebay...I'm starting to get a bit suspect of the quality/consistency of the down though (probably chinese down instead of European or North American).

Either way...here's a link for you to see for yourself:

I don't trust that price man. It's too good to be true. I would encourage you to do the old pillow and blanket thing. Go to discount stores and pick up old stuff. Make your quilt stuff it and when it's all sewn up take it to the laundry mat and use some down wash made by nix and dry it with some tennis balls and you should get a nice loft with clean odor free down. I think the down wash is about ten bucks but it's fully worth it.

Sounds way too good to be true! I'm looking at wilderness logics down---6.75 an ounce and prepackeged in 1 ounce packs. Thinking its probably worth the money!~

It does seem strange that it lists 50oz of fill regardless of the size of comforter that is selected.

I was thinking the same... maybe Californians don't need much loft to stay warm?
