Everyone's been asked to bring only enough for their own needs. It's just easier that way; everyone gets what they want and we avoid excess food. I'm sure things like chips or a baked treat wouldn't be a problem, although it would be a drag if suddenly after dinner six people pulled out a loaf of banana bread!!!
As a group meal, I've volunteered to prepare a dinner time side bowl (2-3 cup) of goulash (fresh ingredients) for everyone on Friday and another bowl (2-3 cups) of some kind of Chowder (dehydrated ingredients w/crab meat and any trout we catch) on Saturday. I'll pick up the ingredients and hopefully get some help with the prep. I have a large cookpot just waiting to go and this time I'll remember a ladle.
On another note...
Without tempting fate, I just wanted to know if anyone else was planning on bringing some group tarps. I've got a large nylon guide tarp I was going to bring, but it wouldn't hurt to throw a couple of extra into your cars and we can work it out when we get to the put-in.
Axes, saws, etc.. I think we'll be a fairly well armed camp, but if anyone has a large lightweight grill, that might be a plus.

I'll bring my extra silnylon guides tarp as well.
I have extra cups/pots/bowls (GSI stuff mostly), as well as extra DIY hammocks and a -5C synthetic sleeping bag if anyone needs.
The grocery store down my street has those disposable aluminium ready-to-light charcoal grills for dirt cheap, i think 2 or 3 dollars. I could pick up a few and bring them with me as a backup? They're certainly not big...
Good news on the tarps.. Certainly never hurts to have a couple handy.
Personally, I always look forward to grilling over an open fire. With all of the closet pyros in the group, I doubt that even a monsoon could stop us from starting a fire. If it was up to me I wouldn't worry about the all-in-one charcoal grills. BTW, I was talking about a normal grill that you'd set over a fire. I have one, but it's a bit heavy.

I need to stop looking at this thread... its starting to look like I won't be able to go at all this fall and I was really hoping to come on this trip!
Sounds like you all are going to have a great time!

Hi All,
I may have to pick my new Canoe up in South River. This will mean that I would miss any meetup at the Timmies in Huntsville. I'll know for sure tomorrow. Either way I'm going to try to time it for 8:00-8:30 arrival at Kearney Ranger Station.
Things will work out!
Dan.
Sure Jiblets it will be nice to get some opinions on it since I might consider buying it after this trip.
As for group gear I will be bringing a blue tarp but I have had some leakage issues with my hammock tarp so I may have to keep it reserved for that.
Im happy as always to lend my cooking skill in the preparation of the goulash, let me know if there is anything I can pack that will be of aid.
My plan is to pick up my boat in gravenhurst at 6-630 am then meet everyone else at the timmies in Hunstville before carrying on.
Ill PM my cell number.
Ryvr
