How about expanding the topic to cover bicyclists? Touring bicyclists and motorcyclists have much the same issues/concerns when it comes to camping and hammocking. In both cases the limitations on space are more significant than weight.

never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever lay a motorcycle on its SIDE!!!!!! this allows oil to slowly seep through the ring gaps on the piston, and when you do try to crank it it will break something expensive inside. unless its a oilhead BMW....

This sounds like an acceptable idea...each topic should get its own thread.

This sounds like you're trying to game the system. Even after angrysparrow told you how to make your idea happen, you just told the mod team that you're trying to get around our rules. Perhaps you were joking or just didn't put that much thought into it, but as a mod, what I interpreted was, "This guy is going to play games that I'll have to sort out in order to keep the forum operating smoothly."

As angrysparrow said, making more work for the mods is likely to be the opposite of helpful to your cause.

motorcycle camping isnt like canoe or car camping. very limited space. and weight limits. uneven loads can cause handling issues. so weight and compact-ability is still important to us non touring bikers. i ride a sport bike and only have a total of 80L of storage, most of which is stuff to repair the bike on the roadside. so yes please
The funny thing is I would put the same requirements on my canoe that you put on your cycle. Most of the fun canoe country includes some number of portages so we need to carry everything by hand. About the only difference is the repair kit and maybe the pack. As I think a bit more my son has similar issues with his bicycle. ;-)

However you get there it's all about weight & volume and each has their own unique challenges.
I have been backpacking for 2 years and hangin for 1 year.
After a long absence from having a MC, I am back and have discovered that the MC
and backpacking/ hangin/camping are very compatible.
Bottom line, I think the MC hangers topic is a good idea and I would participate.

I would use a bikepacking sub forum, but that's not quite the same thing.

    Lightbulb More thoughts and opinions...

I've been giving this a lot of thought the past few days...more thought than I should be giving it.

IMHO I think a general transportation forum is a good idea. Transporting our hammock gear in anything except a car/truck definitely requires some compromises and I can learn just as much from someone that paddles as from someone that motorcycles or bicycles...or even hikes.

I guess in summary, I'm all for a general transportation forum and would have no issues if the paddling forum remained intact as a sub-forum of the transportation forum.

    I completely oppose this idea.

More people biking + hammocking = my favorite spots will all be taken when I get to the campsite!

I only camp on my motorbike and would love a motorbike sub forum. BUT I find all HF relates to the camping part and the bike part is to complex to share a forum. I love this place because I learn something everytime I come here and I can help others. As for motorbike forums dualsportbc.com is helpful.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346553961.363123.jpg
