Bivy Sack in Lieu of Bug Net and Tarp

Anyone used a bivy sack for ground sleeping in a hammock instead of a bug net and tarp? With a tarp?

I have a friend who has the "go to ground" fear. He sleeps in a hammock, in a bivy sack, with a tarp, and an underquilt, and a sleeping bag, and a bugnet. You, too, can carry a 60-lb. pack for overnights like my friend!

That's OK. I have an REI minimalist Bivy, a S2S Mc ii summer down bag, and a BA insulated aircore mummy pad. I was thinking about just dumping that setup into a cheap Grand Trunk traveler or ultralight and using webbing and 3mm cord I already have to rig it.
