    converting 1.7dl to 1.7sl

hey this maybe a stupid question, is it possible to mod the traveler 1.7 dl to 1.7 sl by removing the lower layer of nylon and sewing in a hem line or would this destroy the integrity of the hammock. the reason for me to even think to do this is that ill be moving away from using foam pads and utilizing an UQ instead.

I would just leave it. It will help with strength and keep you a little warmer.

Funny, I recently emailed Brandon this question for my BB.
I would like to lighten my hammock and was wondering if it was possible to convert the double to a single? If possible would this be more economical than selling the hammock and buying a new 1.7 single? Also, if the alteration was possible would it be the same weight as the 1.7 single sold on your site, since it once was a double?
I deleted his email but the reply was short and I guess to the point. "If you want a single sell your hammock and buy one, or cut the top layer out and you have a single."

I'm not too sure on the weight comparison after the alteration. Essentially you have a 1.7 single with a little bit extra nylon inside the hem.
It wouldn't be a difficult project, and from what I got from Brandon it sounded like there would be no sewing needed, just cut close to the hem's.
Easy enough, I'm just not sure if I can work up enough courage to do it?

That'd be the way to go. Though in explanation the removal instructions seem simple enough You'd probably want to use a hot knife to cut the nylon leaving it without fraying edges and if you didn't cut the seems good you'd have a flap sticking you in the side all the time. Then again I get irritated by the smallest things and you may very well not notice it at all.

But two happy campers are better then one, I like your plan.
