GnomeBuddy, I am going to order my EVA pad from the following site I think:

    http://www.foamorder.com/closedcell.html

I am going to order a 1/4" thick pad that is 40"x80". I figure that I can cut the pad some if it is too large but I think that the added width will be good for the shoulders. The longer length will be good for the head and feet in cold temps maybe. If anyone knows of a better pad with the same approximate dimensions, please provide me with the information for it.

I checked the shipping to SC and it was $21.00 and they add a $3.00 handling fee. Gossamer gear pad costs $37 but shipping is $6.99.

I have looked at the Gossamer Gear pad. It's length is 59 1/4" which is probably okay. I like the longer length of 80" but the GG pad may be a better quality pad. I am concerned about my head or feet getting cold though in extreme temps. I am going to call GG today to see if they can provide a longer pad. I'll let you know what they tell me.

I called Gossamer Gear and asked if they can cut a 39" wide pad that is longer than 59" but they receive the pads already cut (molded actually) to length. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether a 59" long pad is long enough or should I opt for a longer pad?

I'd opt for the larger pad, Roger. More coverage under normal use and if you ever have to go to ground then there is plenty upon which to pile yourself and your gear.

You could always get a smaller pad and duct tape additional length at the bottom.

Contact cement is great for Eva foan. I use Dap Weldwood for my kayaks all the time.
