I cut some thin strips from a "sham wow!" cloth. They work very well as drip lines.

That cord ended up being the neck strap of my name tag at the 3rd annual FL hang.
Well, THANK you, all, for a great thread.
I've been enjoying my RR for several months, now, but never knew what those little black bits of string were about. Also, I had just typed up a question to post about that strange little toggle, but now you have explained that, as well.
I was grumbling how it interfered with my zippers, if I wrapped it around the head poles, but now I see it is to be used when the bug net is NOT holding things together. Very informative. Thank you, Brandon and everyone.

I put my head pole through the little elastic loop thingy even with the 4" extension. I suppose one could "lark's head" it around the pole too. I've never had an issue with the head-end fabric flopping down on me once the pole is in place.
I remember when I first got my Ridgerunner I emailed Warbonnet asking what the little black strings were for. Drip lines was the answer. Maybe that's one piece of information to include in the package so people know what they're for.
There was a thread a while back about drip lines on the Ridgerunner and from what I remember the general consensus was it didn't need them (?).
