I actually have the Slapstraps already and am looking to change them as they stretch too much. I'm looking at either doing my own webbing or getting the new ENO Atlas straps as they apparently are much better

Fair enough, I can understand the weight issue for backpackers. I put a ton of kms on in a canoe, so weight is not my biggest worry. I have even used the straps end to end to line my canoe through unsafe rapids, and to collect firewood.

Ok. I'll share with you my secret but only because your Canadian. Goto any junk yard, find a newer truck, cut the seat belts out, melt ends, sew loops, done! Highest weight rating, no stretch straps in the world. $3 each.

Ha! That works too. I would disinfect them before packing them with my gear though!

Just read the whole thread. Someone else uses seatbelts as well. They great for a amazing amount of things. The buckles are super tuff too and never let go.

That item will get you the Nylon slap straps from ENO. No desirable for hammock suspension due to excessive stretch.

I agree with others, if you don't want 2" wide straps then support the vendors here and order from them.

    Cheers

I agree Brian! But getting things across the border can double the price. What's really nice is the surprise bill you get a month later.

Of the vendors I've dealt with on hammock forums, they all ship via the postal service for international shipments. So the worst you are going to get dinged is your local sales taxes plus a small processing fee. None of the UPS brokerage (rape-age) charges to contend with.

For small stuff, more often than not, it gets delivered with no extra charges. The only issue (if you can even call it one), is that it may take up to 2 weeks to get your shipment.

Also if you contact the vendors when you get a really high shipping quote from their cart, they will adjust it for you down to actual shipping charges.

    Cheers

I'll try that! Thanks. Most of us Canadians have had bad run ins ordering stuff. I ordered a $300 jeep part, in the end paid $800 dollars for it and it was the wrong part! I still have it here because I would have had to pay to return it!! Lol!
