The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.
That is a super fly rig you have there brother! Very nice
Yukon...call me a noob But what is that ridgeline setup you have on the Superfly? Does it have a name? I just bought myself a RR (first hammock) and I just tied a girth hitch on each end and went straight to the trees the hammock is hanging from. Looks like you have a string going all the way across above the tarp. Thanks for the help
It's called a continuos ridgeline. It is run from tree to tree, with the tarp being attached to it on klemheist loops (unidirectional self tightening loop). Do a search on here of continuos ridgeline set ups and you will find all kinds of information
And congrats on your new hammock!
Good stuff...I am over in east Africa so I have been up for a while :P I started doing some searching after I posted that and uncovered exactly what you just said. I think it could possibly be benifitial to the way I had it rigged before, even found a couple'a cool ideas with shock-cord to pull out the overnight sag. Thanks so much for the help. I will have to wait until I get back from this contract in 2014 to try it though...LOL...when I take 6 months off and start a thru-hike.
Yukon....I see this is an older thread but wanted to know if you are still thrilled with the RR after a year and a half. I just ordered one today as my first hammock. I was a little concerned about the max height limit. I am almost 6'6'' and 215 as well. I held off on ordering a tarp until I am sure if the hammock will work for me. Have you noticed any issues since using it with the Super Fly?
I sold the Ridgerunner some time ago, regretfully. It was a great hammock, but I decided I liked the gathered end hammocks better for backpacking. I intend to purchase another RR though, and will use it for different camping times. At your height you will have no problem, trust me.
Yukon...thanks for the response. I am considering ordering the XLC as well. Curious as to which one I will like better.
