Hey guys and gals. I'm about to place an order at diygearsupply for my down TQ fabric, the 1.1 ripstop, and wanted to know if there was a particular side that should face the down, and if so, how do you tell which side?
Thanks in advance.

I believe you want the shiny side facing the down.

What are the implications of guessing wrong? I could see a difference in the 2 sides, but I couldn't decide which was "shiny". This is on DIY Gear Supply 1.1 seconds. The olive.
I just sewed all the baffles on the side I guessed last night, and i don't have any plans to redo it. But there is still time to save the outer layer!
Good news - the 1.1 Olive 2nds are the same both sides. You're good to go!
And everyone's advice on finding the best side is great. I usually do the rub fabric together to see if there's a different feel method if it's not obvious visibly. And if there's no DWR or other coating, doesn't matter which side goes where if there's no obvious shiny side.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I couldn't tell which was shinier. I asked my 6 year old to pick a side and went with it
Many fabrics don't have a "side." However, there are some that do. If you can't tell, then it doesn't matter. Momentum 90 (M90) is an example where the sides are extremely different from each other.
