Really interested to hear how you convert the spouse. I only seem to piss mine off the more I talk about hammocks or camping. Love my wife but really wish she would come around when it comes to hammock camping.

I am blessed with someone with a great sense of adventure !

Since so much of my life is about being outdoors / living adventure /activity, someone who complained about stuff like that would be incompatible.

Well, I wouldn't call her a convert..but she's willing to try. She's done one overnight with me in her own hammock (pink and purple GT). I wouldn't say it was a resounding success, but it wasn't a horrific failure either.

She's been camping plenty of times...mostly car camping. It was pretty chilly out when she slept in the hammock last spring, and it was raining pretty hard too.

She "hung in there", and she's absolutely willing to go again (even mentioned it to me yesterday).

I found an awesome set of purple straps yesterday at harbor freight for her setup...now I need to get a ridgeline on her hammock so it's easier to get the lay right, and work on under insulation for her as well.

She won't spend as much time out as I do with my sons...but like I said, she's willing to come out occasionally with me and enjoy the quiet. I can't complain! =-)

That's awesome owl! I can't wait for my wife to join me on my outings. But like I said in an earlier post its a coleman tent for now.

    2. Mrs. Fish will have some private space to nurse or change or whatever so she'll be happier. "When momma's happy, everyone's happy..."
    3. You'll have a clean place to drop your gear and all of Fish, Jr's gear so you'll be happy too.
Awesome recommendation about the tent. I wasn't too thrilled about buying it, but I am dying to camp and every time in the last 5mo I have set up with friends to go camping it got cancelled...Atleast with my "best friend in life" we can go whenever we want.

You are also correct about the private place for Mrs. Fish as well. I think part of the reason she doesn't have too much of a desire to hammock camp is because it's a fairly open shelter compared to the nylon 7x7 prison cell.

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.

Just work her till shes ready to drop building a campground (campair in our case) and only give her one place to lay down, there you go "converted". LOL not really, she loves me the outdoors and best of all, Hammocks, life is good!
