Broken collarbone and hammock.

I have fought the battle of the shoulder/clavicle, too many times to count. Both are wired together. Now I have a Defibrillator added to the shoulder joint. I would do the hammock as long as it did not pinch my shoulder. I am sure if your shoulder gets pinched you will be out of the hammock like a shot! I used my hammock when I was recoving from my last three surgeries. getting into the hammock was pure pain. Once I was down, had the ice machine going, I was comfortable. Here in the USA, we had small machines that circulate cold water through a pad that goes over the wound/sore place. Very helpful in the recovery process, you can go to sleep and have cold treatment while you sleep. Very helpful, and many surgeons recommed them. I am sure you know that you have to be very careful that your shoulder does not stiffen up to the point you can not use it. Clavicles can be difficlut to heal, so be very careful what you do. Bad form to break it again, before it is all the way healed. If you are under 35 it should heal well, if you have passed the 35 year mark, be prepared to take a little longer to heal.

I slept with many pillows, my neck hurt, my ribs hurt, I pretty much cocooned myself. I had to have help to get out of the hammock (okay I had to have help to move upon awakening). Very gently waking up muscles after sleep helps alot, no jumping up after laying still for a while.

That hurted most in the first day that pressed to take painkillers but onli in break day, in that very evening I got that figure 8 brace to push back relatively in place it's fixed pretty well, today that old doc comfirmed.
I found pretty interesting that if hammock ar hung with bigger sag, that sweet spot broadens a bit and I could find it nice, getting in hammock are relatively easy only hardest part is to get out oh it. Best part I can hang in hammock almost 24/7 and no, it does not getting uncomfortable at all. No need for that medical air mattress.

Helmets work.



Broken right clavicle was part of the problems. Could not deal with the hammock for over six months after the crash. Still can't sleep on my right side, but there are some other issues. I'm most comfortable in the hammock after almost a year.

I agree that helmets work, my Bell Sweep R also saved my head.
It seems that You had terrible crash, ouch!
Of course I'm sleeping half on back and half on my right side.

have no advice just offer some prayers for a full and speedy recovery! glad you were wearing that helmet!

Thanks a lot! We must wear those helmets in competitions but I'm wearing also when riding alone in training and working as messenger also.
Some other riders also ignores safety in cycling and cycles without those helmets including messengers.

I visited that Doc today and he done last x-ray for me and he said that after two weeks I'll be good enough to go on full action and no more x-rays whooohooo!

I was hit by a deer on my motorcycle and broke my clavicle in two places.

I couldn't imagine trying to get in, or worse, out of a hammock.

I spent about two months sleeping in a giant LazyBoy...

Now I've got a plate and have no issues in the hammock unless it gets a bit chilly and I forget my underquilt - then my shoulder can get a bit stiff in the AM

For those interested people how I feel after long time, I do not feel motion restriction and stiffening at all and worked in forestry from january through april this year as chainsaw operator without any additional discomfort from that hard work in snowy conditions. I sleep in exatly same model hammock as this hammock.

It's good to hear that you recovered so well! And do you believe the hammock was the key factor in your recovery? Nice hammock by the way, wish I had room for one like that in my house.
