I'd bet you'd be safe in the double as is. Brandon said in the official RR thread that the double's rating of 260lbs was more of a girth issue than a weight issue. just look at the double 1.1 WBBB and it's rated to 275. Mine should be here around friday or so and I'm pushing all the limits on this thing, so I'll be sure to do a review

I would love a RR for heavier guys. I am 5'9" and 240. Not the largest but not the smallest. I really don't think it being heavier would be an issue as us heavy guys are use to carrying weight around. Heck, I use to carry a 65 pound pack backpacking and now finally have weened it down to a 23 pound base pack weight.
So, heck a 5 - 6 pound hammock would be nothing. I just weighed my HH Exp Zip with the storage bag, 42 inch and 72 inch straps, original fly, 70D Hex Fly and snakeskins and that all together weighs 102.8 ounces on my digital scale or 6.5 pounds for those who dont want to do the conversion.
Frankly I dont care as I know that when I carry this setup I will be prepared for anything where I live. Rain or shine I will be hanging and comfortable so I dont know about anyone of you other heavy hangers but I would not mind the extra weight at all. Having the flattest lay of all would be worth the weight in my eyes. But thats just my two cents. What do you all think.

I want one too!
It's been a while since I was involved in the research of bridge design. But as I remember there was a practical limit to width and depth of the bridge. IIRC that's why JRB did not come out with a substantially larger design. The physics of the bridge are very different than the gathered end. Maybe these obstacles have been overcome, but I clearly remember when they were being pushed unsuccessfully.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Me and my dog together would be about 260, I prefer the 1.7 or even heavier fabric as I keep my gear for a long time, and don't want my dogs toe nails popping through.
