    Dream Hammock winter sock test

Here in Montana it will be in the mid forties tonight, with a 20 - 30 mph wind. I am going to take this opportunity to test the breathable winter sock Papa Smurf made for me last winter in the backyard. I ordered it kinda snug, at 48" wide, so it just fits with about two inches to spare on the bottom for my 2/3 UQ. Plan to use a poncho liner for TQ and reflectix square. I'm looking forward to trying this out, as I can't sleep with tarps flapping and snapping in 30 mph winds, so maybe this is the ticket, when no rain is forecast for weeks and weeks and weeks. BTW, the air here looks like downtown L.A. in a smog alert due to all the fires.

I am excited to hear how the sock goes. I'm down here in Idaho and am considering a similar set up.

Slept great until 4 a.m. in the untreated winter sock. It really helps with the wind, which was gusting to about 20 mph, down to 45 degrees. I got a little chilly though and came inside. 3/4 home made uq out of a throw blanket didn't quite cut it. Will have to use my other DIY REI down sleeping bag mod UQ for 45 and under, esp. if windy.
