    Thumbs up Lawson Blue Ridge

I picked up a Lawson Blue Ridge today at Sportsmanship Warehouse. I set it up in the back yard.
The cords comming out of the hammock go it a rather elaborate weave and are then tied together by a separate small loop of cord.
The gathering cords on each end were the 1st thing to.go. ill probably replace all of the cordage with Amsteel to reduce bulk and weight.
It feels tippy ill play with the cords and see if I can make it more stable.
The bungies that hold the poles up seem unnecessary, because the poles stay up well enough on there own.
This appears to be a great hammock/tent/bivey sack, for my type of camping.
If there are no trees it is a nice 1 person tent. As a hammock its very roomy and has 2 mesh storage pockets for headlamp, book, waterbottle, what ever. Each end also has a small clip for hanging a light or what ever.i
The rain fly I will.be leaving out and using my tarp, which I think is better. In winter the stock rain fly would deffinetly help keep you warm.
If any of you have experience with this type of bridge hammock, please feel free to make suggestions.
The lay is great. This is my first bridge hammock, if it is one, and its pretty flat. Laying on my side or curled up is fine. Diagonal is as flat as a board. I'm very pleased with it and look forward to making some minor changes.

I tested out this hammock and really liked it. The insulation is the tricky part, you can check out my video reveiw if you like

The Suspension on the Blue Ridge Hammock isn't just a rope suspension. It was designed to be adjustable so you can loosen or tighten each rope to find you comfort spot. Try playing around with it before your remove it.

Still have mine....it is at least 12 years old I reckon. Heavy but had fun in it.
    It is a hanger-queen now.
Used it on the ground a lot as well. Whether in the air or on the ground I used a pad as under insulation.

Iwas thinking the Velcro on the bottom would make good attachment points for a ground pad or underquilt.

I just laid on my pad inside the hammock. Never did try a UQ on that hammock.

Shug I thought you were in Hollywood, not home checking the forum. Any tips on improving the suitability?

I never modded mine much other than add a tarp rather than the cover it came with.
To heavy for my backpacking purposes so I went ultra-light ground camping then came back to hammocks but went with gathered end hammock.

I was just looking at these. It seems pretty heavy at 4#. Shug, did you go back to gathered end hammocks due to the weight? How long are the poles? These seem like something that would have to be either tied vertically outside the pack or force you to use a very tall pack.

The poles break in half. When folded in half and rolled its about 5-6" x 18". Not to big. On par with a bivy, but heavier.
