Tarp guyline tensioners for HH Hex Fly

I've been reading the threads on tarp guyline tensioners, such as these:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=25052
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=3731

It's all great stuff, and I've started working on my own, and then, I started wondering. Much of the discussion centered on how these are most useful for sil-nylon tarps. I'm using the Hennessy 70D Hex Tarp.

Given this is a polyester tarp and not sil, am I simply wasting my time, adding weight and complexity, and maybe even doing more harm than good?

    Thanks in advance.

IMHO - No. Even though its a polyester tarp, you still can get sag if it rains really heavy, or if you get snow. Also, in windy conditions the tensioners can help.
The road to success is always under construction.

I made some and didn't notice anything different with my polyester tarps, so I ditched them. If I can't detect the benefit, then there is no benefit.

I'm new too, but when a strong wind whips up, I'd like to protect the tarp a bit with some bungy stretch so tension builds on the tie-out loop or grommet more gradually. It is less likely to do damage, I'm thinking.

Also, if your Hennesey Hex is like mine, it is attached to the suspension rope of the hammock, so when the trees sway and maybe your hammock, more than just wind forces are exerted on the tie outs. I just ordered a bunch of glow in the dark mini tensioners from the HF store, so I can get these on my 2 tarps. I got the bungee on eBay for a song, so I'll be rigging my tarps like in your top link. So thanks for bringing it up. it just seems so simple that way.

I've got my tarp on a separate 2-piece ridgeline at the moment, not atached via Henessy method to hammock suspension.
