fiddle factor

Am i alone in this or does anyone else not bother with the side pull outs on their BB?
I took them off my BB 1.1DBL and love not having to fiddle with them. or them getting in the way when packing up/ getting in.

I still use the shelf, as it's higher up than my head . But i just love not having to
use the tie outs.

Thats my thought for the day.

I don't use the tie-outs on my HH Expedition. They never did anything to increase my comfort.

I suspect it's common.

I still use the shelf tie-out, only because I don't like stuff banging around. I also use it for 'storing' my underquilt on those nights that it's too warm for the quilt, but will get cold later. I just push the quilt up into the wedge the pocket creates. Gets it out of the way and makes it easy to reset without getting out of the hammock.

A couple weeks ago after having my bugnet tied back during the day I went to sleep forgetting to tighten up the bungee after reattaching it to the tie out (made mine detachable). After a few minutes of getting settled in I noticed something didn't feel quite right. I realized after a few seconds what I had done. It wasn't a big deal but the way I lay, my head and pillow feel different if the tie out is not taut. Not to say I could not get used to it but I do like having it tied out so when I crouch down and get in the bugnet is up and a little more out of my way. I'm probably just so accustomed to it though.

I like the roominess both tie outs give me. Plus i just tie them off to my tarp stakes anyway so not a big hassle.

If there is stuff on the shelf and it is not tied out it will encroach into my head space. Anoying.

I have been running the shelf side out to where the tarp and guyline meet. I may get rid of the shockcord line and use a mitten hook or an itty bitty carabiner.

On the zipper side I've been running it out to the same stake as the tarp. Sometimes I do this on both sides. . .only need 4 stakes either way.
