We have a big boat supply store nearish to me. They carry amsteel blue and spyderline. Granted the store is defender, which is way better stocked then west marine. If you want to go with the spyder line call around to some local boating stores, or marinas and see what they have.

As far as attachment you can use line-locs. If you use masons line or other really small diameter line get the mini or micro (can't remember which one they call it) line-locs.

Is there somewhere you guys find micro or mini line-locs locally or do you have to order them? I'm kinda leaving on a trip and don't have time to order anything.

    Thanks

You'd hafta order them. If you don't have time for that then go with the taut line hitch. That or you could use a prussik. I use prussiks exclusively on my tarp.

    prusiks

For adjustment, you may also like, as many do, prusik loops /knots. You tie them just once, at home, then slide them in the field.

I tie mine using about 12" of 1mm line. Very heavy waxed thread or mason's line would be fine. After tying the loop, wrap / make the prusik around whatever line you've chosen for the tie out. It will slide up and down for your adjustability. One or both ends of the tie out get permanent bowlines or slipped bowlines for the stake / stick.

Then larks head / cow hitch the loop to a tarp tie out loop. ( ie insert the prusik loop through the tie out loop / ring; and pull the rest of the loop, with the attached tie-out, through that first half.)
