How does one waterproof a polyethylene tarp? I bought one that says water resistant, however I'm with the military and I'll be using it in the bowels of British Colombia. Know it's not light and if anyone knows where I can buy silnylon around Edmonton, AB Canada it would be appreciated also. Stitch my first ever hammock this weekend and try it in the field in two weeks! Pumped!

Someone correct me if I am wrong but if it says water resistant than it probably is already treated with a DWR. Most fabrics that are treated are never water proof. The intentions of the treatment is to make the water bead up and roll off. If you blast the fabric hard enough you will notice water spray coming through the other side. Any fabric that is truly water proof will not be breathable either(typically).
